Modern Facades with Matrix

An astonishing material that captures everyone’s attention with its completely original beauty: this is Matrix, a schist from Santo Antonio Stones’ own quarries. Gray in color and with an unmistakable shine, it is available in various finishes, such as polished, brushed, and “3D,” which gives a three-dimensional quality to the material.

Matrix is already a well-established natural stone in construction projects abroad, having been used in the past two decades in spectacular projects such as luxury hotels in Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. But today, we will talk about a specific application in which Matrix demonstrates excellent technical performance: facades.

Below, we can see two examples of buildings where Matrix was skillfully used in the facades. The first one is a high-end shopping center in Warsaw, Poland. Bracka shopping center is home to stores like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and other international luxury brands. Renowned architect Stefan Kurylowicz, one of the country’s most prominent architects, chose Matrix schist for the entire project, applying the material on the floors, walls, bathrooms, and, remarkably, on the entire facade! Matrix contributed to solidifying the contemporary and somewhat futuristic architectural style of the project. Since this facade is located in Poland, it is subject to the typical climatic variations of the region: hot summers and cold winters with snow, and Matrix perfectly meets the technical requirements for this application.

The second example, also in Warsaw, is the commercial building Marszalkowska. Once again, the Matrix facade accentuated the contemporary architectural style of the project, creating a harmonious contrast with the beautiful historic buildings in the center of Warsaw.
